Blueprints for Interpretation (2): Question What You Believe

Your beliefs are a ship.

It carries you across unknown waters.

But over time, barnacles cling to the hull.

These are blind fears, outdated rules, untested assumptions.

They feel like part of the ship.

And they slow you down.

The smartest thinkers found a solution:

Don't throw the ship away.

Instead, clean the hull.

One called it a "baloney detection kit."

Not doubting everything, but testing them.

What survives scrutiny, stays.

What fails, gets scraped off.

Heard it once? That's an echo, not evidence.

Someone powerful said it? Even experts can be wrong.

Let ideas fight.

The strongest explanation wins.

And if you are too attached to an answer, that's a warning sign.

The beliefs you treasure most, face the hardest tests.

When evidence proves you wrong, scrape away harder.

Clean your hull..., and you will sail much further.

Which barnacle will you scrape off first?
